Some say ‘The unexamined life is not worth living.’
Windowsill all stacked with leather-bound Stoics,
Perpetually referencing the classics,
Thinking learning makes them better,
Or more attuned to what is deeper,
Smoking pipes and quoting Homer.
But there’s something fickle about literature,
That certain minds are honoured more than others,
And anyway, why does it matter?
My two-year-old daughter
Knows life’s worth living,
And knows it better than any scholar.
Brilliant and pithy ! Thanks for sharing
the sentiment is good to be carefree and live through a lens of magic without certainty of knowing what is and what isn't. i’ve always naturally examined my own life for as long as i can remember without knowing a thing about socrates or why they killed him with hemlock. i don't examine my life today thinking that anything is final or certain, preserving the glow while scientists calculate width and density creating fancy latin names that sound elegant.
